Cascades Is Another Casualty of Justin Trudeau’s Policies

Belleville, ON – Ryan Williams, Common Sense Conservative Member of Parliament for the Bay of Quinte, released the following statement after Cascades Containerboard Packaging in the Bay of Quinte announced that they would be closing their plants in Belleville and Quinte West, leaving 250 Canadians out of work.

After eight years of Justin Trudeau, Canadians are struggling. The Liberal Government’s inflationary spending and taxes have driven up the cost of everything, forcing people to cut back on spending, while businesses struggle to keep their doors open.

Conservative MP Ryan Williams said that “this is devastating news for the employees and families of Cascades. Cascades has been a vital employer for over 100 years in our region. Even when the company found itself in a tough spot 12 years ago, it found a way to fight back and stay in our community.”

“Cascade’s closing is just one more example of the misery that Justin Trudeau’s inflation and interest rates have inflicted on our community,” added MP Williams. This news follows on the heels of other company layoffs like Manulife, Rona, TD Bank, Amazon and Canadian Tire.

“I have spoken with local officials who promise the City of Quinte West, along with the Quinte Development Council, will work together to assist Cascades employees in finding meaningful work with the region.”

Under Justin Trudeau, businesses are struggling to create jobs for workers, Canadians’ paycheques don’t go as far anymore, and people are having to cut back on spending thanks to the government’s inflationary taxes and spending. Justin Trudeau just isn’t worth the cost. Only Common Sense Conservatives will bring home powerful paycheques for all Canadians.
